Mexico Stocks: America Movil, Penoles, Grupo Mexico Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close of trading.

The IPC index fell 2.1 percent to 39,214.64, the biggest drop since Nov. 25.

America Movil SAB (AMXL) , the wireless carrier controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim, tumbled 8.2 percent to 17.13 pesos. The company is offering 2.6 billion euros ($3.4 billion) to boost its stake in Dutch phone company Royal KPN NV to as high as 28 percent.

Industrias Penoles SAB (PE&OLES* MM), a Mexican miner of silver and gold, fell 0.8 percent to 608.76 pesos. Gold and silver futures tumbled amid concern austerity efforts in Greece may be derailed.

Grupo Mexico SAB (GMEXICOB) , Mexico’s biggest mining company, fell 0.9 percent to 40.98 pesos. Copper futures retreated as European concerns dimmed the outlook for demand.
