Merkel Thanks Sarkozy for Close Collaboration During Debt Crisis
Angela Merkel telephoned outgoing French President Nicolas Sarkozy this evening to thank him for his “close and trustworthy” collaboration in combating the European debt crisis, according to a German government statement.
The German chancellor and Sarkozy are both convinced that “Germany and France will continue to bear the responsibility to promote a united Europe through working together,” the government added in the e-mailed statement.
