Chilean Stocks: Colbun, Enersis Sonda and Vapores Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index rose 0.4 percent to 4,545.65. The MSCI Chile index (MXCL) fell 0.4 percent to 2,575.21.

Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC) led gains among members of the benchmark Ipsa index with a 4 percent increase to 58.74 pesos, the biggest increase in six weeks. The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index rose for the 11th consecutive week, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange said May 4.

Colbun SA (COLBUN) fell 1.1 percent, the most in six weeks, to 138.24 pesos. Chile’s third-largest power producer posted “weak” results in the first quarter, Santiago-based brokerage Larrain Vial SA said in an e-mailed note to clients.

Enersis SA (ENERSIS) , an electric utilities holding company, lost 0.2 percent to 192.96 pesos. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. began coverage of the stock May 4 with a rating equivalent to hold, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Sonda SA (SONDA) advanced 0.5 percent to 1,444 pesos. Chile’s biggest information-technology company agreed to pay about $74 million for Brazil’s Elucid Solutions SA, according to a statement posted May 4 on the Chilean securities regulator’s website.
