Doan’s Goal Gives Coyotes 1-0 Win Over Predators in NHL Playoffs

Shane Doan fired a 10-foot backhand shot into the net to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 1-0 victory over the Nashville Predators in the second round of the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup playoffs.

Doan’s goal came 14 minutes, 25 seconds into the first period at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Coyotes with a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven semifinal series are within one game of advancing to the Western Conference finals.

Mike Smith had 25 saves for the Coyotes, while Pekka Rinne stopped 23 shots for the Predators.

The Coyotes move back to their home ice to host the Predators for Game 5 on May 7.

In tonight’s game, the New York Rangers, who hold a 2-1 lead in their series, travel to Washington to meet the Capitals in Game 4.
