President Dmitry Medvedev and President-elect Vladimir Putin, who will be inaugurated on May 7, attended a May Day labor demonstration along with more than 100,000 people in central Moscow, according to a statement on the government’s website.

Around 150,000 people marched down the capital’s Tverskaya Street in the union-backed labor day event today, Interfax reported, citing the Moscow police press service.

A rally to protest Putin’s victory planned for today was canceled and will be held on May 6, according an April 27 post on the opposition’s page of the social network website of Facebook Inc.
