Persian Gulf Stocks: Aamal of Qatar and Qatar Telecom

Abu Dhabi’s ADX General Index (ADSMI) fell 0.3 percent, the biggest drop since April 19, to 2,503.82 at the 2 p.m. close in the emirate. The DFM General Index (DFMGI) decreased 0.5 percent, while Qatar’s QE Index (DSM) rose 0.2 percent.

The following shares were active in the Persian Gulf region. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

Aamal Co. (AHCS) of Qatar slumped the most in almost a month, decreasing 3.4 percent to 16.9 riyals. The Qatar-based diversified investment company said first-quarter profit fell to 54.6 million riyals ($15 million) from 59.1 million riyals a year earlier.

Qatar Telecom QSC (QTEL QD) advanced 1.5 percent to 140.1 riyals, the highest close since March 2008. The Persian Gulf country’s biggest company by revenue posted a first-quarter profit of 711.4 million riyals, beating estimates.
