Rangers Defeat Capitals 3-1 in Game 1 of NHL Playoff Series

The New York Rangers beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 in the opening game of their National Hockey League second-round playoff series.
Chris Kreider and Brad Richards scored 90 seconds apart in the third period to give the Rangers, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, the win. New York’s Artem Anisimov and Washington’s Jason Chimera had goals in the second period.
New York hosts Game 2 in the best-of-seven series in two days.
