Arpe, Partners Plan Offer for Fondiaria-Sai, Repubblica Says

Matteo Arpe’s private-equity firm and its partner plan an offer for Fondiaria-Sai SpA (FSA) after Italy’s competition authority suspended the insurer’s merger with Unipol Gruppo Finanziario SpA (UNI), la Repubblica reported without saying where it got the information.

According to the plan, Arpe’s Sator Capital Ltd. and Palladio Finanziaria SpA would support half of the 800 million euros ($1.06 billion) capital increase Fondiaria-Sai needs to return to profit, the Rome-based newspaper said. The other half would be raised on the market, la Repubblica reported.
