Peru Stocks: Buenaventura, Rio Alto, Southern, Telefonica

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close.

The Lima General Index (IGBVL) fell for a second day, dropping 0.2 percent to 22,799.41. The MSCI All Peru Capped Index rose 0.2 percent to 2,940.82.

Telefonica del Peru SAA (TELEFBC1 PE), the local unit of Telefonica SA, slumped 4.1 percent to 2.11 soles after first- quarter net income dropped 4 percent to $73.1 million.

Rio Alto Mining Ltd. (RIO) , a Canadian gold miner, rose 3.5 percent to $4.19 after gold advanced the most in two weeks in New York, said Jorge Ramirez, a trader at Lima-based brokerage Coril SAB.

Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE), the country’s biggest precious-metals miner, gained 1.5 percent to $41.50. The company is scheduled to report first-quarter earnings after market close tomorrow.

Southern Copper Corp. (SCCO) , Peru’s biggest copper producer, climbed 1.6 percent to $31.80 after copper rose to a three-week high in New York. Southern is scheduled to report first-quarter earnings April 30.
