U.S. Stocks Pare Gains as Apple Drags Down Technology Shares

U.S. stocks pared gains as technology shares retreated, dragged down by Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s 10th decline in 11 days as investors await the company’s quarterly report after markets close today.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.2 percent to 1,369.14 at 2:31 p.m. New York time, trimming its advance from 0.6 percent. Computer-related stocks in the index slumped 0.9 percent. Apple decreased 2.4 percent, extending its drop since April 9 to 12 percent.
