Bangkok Bank, Thanachart Capital, Ticon: Thailand Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close on April 20.

The SET Index (SET) rose 0.8 percent to 1,194.60.

Bangkok Bank Pcl (BBL) : Thailand’s biggest lender said first-quarter profit rose 25 percent to 8.08 billion baht ($261 million) as companies sought loans to rebuild after last year’s flooding. That compared with the 7.79 billion-baht average of six analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Bangkok Bank climbed 0.5 percent to 193 baht.

Thanachart Capital Pcl (TCAP TB): Prudential Plc is considering bidding for the insurance business of Thailand’s Thanachart, Reuters reported, citing people it didn’t identify. The deal would be worth “around $500 million,” the report said. Thanachart declined 1.6 percent to 31.25 baht.

Ticon Industrial Connection Pcl (TICON) : The company established a subsidiary, Ticon Property Inc., to explore investment opportunities in real estate in the U.S., it said in a regulatory filing. Ticon fell 0.8 percent to 12.7 baht.
