U.K. Reassures Banks, Companies Over Falklands, Telegraph Says

The U.K. government has written to 15 banks and oil companies operating in the Falkland Islands to reassure them in the wake of legal threats made by Argentina, the Sunday Telegraph reported, citing a Foreign Office letter.

The companies are entitled to develop oil and fishing industries around the disputed islands without interference from Argentina, the letter said, according to the report.

The Foreign Office confirmed a letter had been sent in March.
