Taiwan Stocks: Asia Cement, Gold Circuit Electronics, Pegatron

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:32 a.m. local time in Taipei.

The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.6 percent to 7,744.50, poised for the biggest decline since April 9.

Asia Cement Corp. (1102) (1102 TT) lost 1.4 percent to NT$36.05, headed for the biggest decline since April 5. Its Hong Kong- listed unit, Asia Cement China Holdings Corp., said the group is expected to record a “substantially” lower net profit in the first quarter this year compared with the same period a year earlier .

Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd. (2368) (2368 TT) retreated 1.3 percent to NT$7.59. The company signed NT$2.2 billion ($74.5 million) of loans with a group of eight banks, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Pegatron Corp. (4938) (4938 TT) gained 1.1 percent to NT$44.95, poised for the highest close since March 30. The electronics maker had its share-price estimate increased 43 percent at Citigroup Inc. on its earnings outlook. The brokerage kept its buy rating on the stock.
