Thailand Stocks: Khon Kaen, Minor International, Thai Airways

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok. Thai financial markets will be closed tomorrow and April 16 for public holidays.

The SET Index (SET) rose 1.3 percent to 1,169.45, the most since March 27, snapping a four-day decline.

Sugar producers: Khon Kaen Sugar Industry Pcl (KSL) climbed 1.5 percent to 13.50 baht, halting a five-day slide. Khonburi Sugar Pcl (KBS) gained 2 percent to 10.30 baht, its biggest increase since Feb. 17.

Sugar production may climb to a record for a second year, according to Thailand’s Office of the Cane & Sugar Board.

Tourism-related companies: Airports of Thailand Pcl (AOT TB) added 1.8 percent to 58 baht. Minor International Pcl (MINT) increased 1.6 percent to 12.70 baht, the most in two weeks. Laguna Resorts & Hotels Pcl (LRH) advanced 3.1 percent to 41.25 baht, the largest gain since Nov. 21. Thai Airways International Pcl (THAI) rose 3.2 percent to 25.50 baht.

An 8.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia yesterday, triggering tsunami warnings in countries including Thailand. The warnings were lifted and no casualties were reported from the quake.
