Billionaire Oleg Deripaska’s En+ Group wants to participate in the construction of a super high voltage transmission line to Kazakhstan, Kommersant reported today, citing people it doesn’t identify.
The project may increase electricity supply from Russia to Kazakhstan from current 1.7 gigawatts per year to 5 gigawatts after 1,900 kilometers line is built, newspaper said.
It may cost about 150 billion rubles ($5 billion), but it’s not clear who will fund it, Kommersant said.
