U.K. Stocks Climb; FTSE 100 Gains 0.5 Percent in London

U.K. stocks advanced, sending the FTSE 100 Index up from its lowest level this year, as banks and mining companies advanced.

The benchmark gauge gained 0.5 percent to 5,622.45 at 10:57 a.m. in London after swinging between gains and losses more than five times today.
