Taiwan Stocks: Chimei Innolux, Hon Hai Precision, Pegatron Corp.

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.

The benchmark Taiex Index advanced 0.1 percent to 8,038.07. The gauge has risen 13.7 percent this year, poised for the best three-month performance since the quarter ended September 2009.

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317) (2317 TT) gained 4.6 percent to NT$113, the biggest jump since Jan. 30. The world’s largest maker of electronics said fourth-quarter net income climbed 64 percent from a year earlier to a record NT$35 billion ($1.18 billion). Parent Foxconn Technology Group and founder Terry Gou will invest 133 billion yen ($1.6 billion) in Sharp Corp. and its display unit. Chimei Innolux Corp. (3481) (3481 TT), a unit of Hon Hai, surged 7 percent to NT$14.55.

Pegatron Corp. (4938) (4938 TT) gained 1.6 percent to a record NT$46.75. The electronic maker’s notebook computer shipment may rise 26 percent this year on new orders, including that from Acer Inc., the Economic Daily News reported, without saying where it got the information. Chief Financial Officer Charles Lin wasn’t immediately available for comment at his office.
