Peru Stocks: Buenaventura, Minera IRL, Panoro, Southern

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as 3:10 p.m. Lima time.

The Lima General Index (IGBVL) fell 0.5 percent to 23,537.51. The MSCI (MXPECAPD) All Peru Capped Index slid 0.7 percent to 2,935.37.

Southern Copper Corp. (PCU\C) (SCCO PE), dropped 3.8 percent to $30.97 after copper declined the most in three weeks in New York, said Estefany Castillo, an analyst at Scotiabank Peru. The Peruvian government said today it will seek to resume suspended talks with protesters who oppose the company’s Toquepala mine expansion.

Panoro Minerals Ltd. (PML) , a Canadian copper and gold exploration company, fell for the first time in four days, losing 2.5 percent to 78 cents.

Candente Copper Corp. (DNT) , a Canadian mining exploration company with operations in Peru, declined 1.9 percent to $1.02.

Rio Alto Mining Ltd. (RIO) , a Canadian gold miner, fell 3.9 percent to $4.47 after gold dropped the most in two weeks in New York, said Alberto Arregui, chief investment officer at Compass Peru.

Minera IRL Ltd. (MIRL) , a U.K. gold producer with a mine in Peru, slid 2.6 percent to $1.12.

Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE), the country’s biggest precious-metals miner, declined 1.4 percent to $39.65.
