Mantega to Ask Brazil Bankers to Lower Loan Rates, Valor Reports

Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega will meet with the country’s top bankers today and demand that they lower rates on loans, Valor Economico reported, without saying where it obtained the information.

Mantega organized the meeting because banks have been increasing loan rates even as the central bank cuts the benchmark interest rate, according to the Sao Paulo-based newspaper.
