Cornell Upsets No. 2 Michigan in NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament

Rodger Craig scored the game- winning goal in overtime as No. 14-seeded Cornell University upset the second-seeded University of Michigan 3-2 in the national men’s college ice hockey tournament.

Cornell advanced to the second round against Ferris State today in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. Simon Denis scored the deciding goal three minutes into the third period last night to give Ferris State a 2-1 win against Denver.

Jeremy Welsh had the go-ahead goal in the second period as third-seeded Union College defeated No. 15 Michigan State 3-1 to reach the second round today against No. 13 Massachusetts- Lowell. Riley Wetmore scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give Massachusetts-Lowell a 4-3 victory against seventh-seeded Miami of Ohio.

In today’s other first-round games, it is top-ranked Boston College facing the Air Force Academy, Minnesota-Duluth against Maine, Minnesota-Twin Cities playing Boston University (43751MF) and Western Michigan meeting No. 4 North Dakota.
