Schmallenberg Virus Found on 1,048 German Farms, FLI Says

The Schmallenberg livestock virus has been found on 1,048 farms in Germany, the country’s Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut reported on its website today.

The virus, which causes stillbirths and deformed offspring, has been confirmed on 820 sheep farms, 184 cattle holdings and 44 goat farms, the authority wrote. The number of cases was increased from 1,035 yesterday.
