China to End Prisoner Organ Donations in 5 Years, Xinhua Says

China will abolish the practice of transplanting organs from executed prisoners within five years, as it builds a national organ-donation system, Xinhua News Agency said, citing Vice Minister of Health Huang Jiefu.

China has set up trial transplant systems in 16 of the nation’s 31 provincial-level regions, the official news service said, citing Huang’s remarks to a conference in Hangzhou
