Peru Stocks: Atacocha, Buenaventura, Cerro Verde, Maple

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close of trade.

The Lima General Index (IGBVL) rose 0.5 percent to 23,056.42. The MSCI (MXPECAPD) All Peru Capped Index gained 0.6 percent to 2,894.34.

Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE), the country’s biggest precious-metals miner, climbed 3.1 percent to $40.11 after gold rose in New York.

Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1) (CVERDEC1 PE), a unit of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., advanced 2.5 percent to $40.50 after copper rose in New York.

Southern Copper Corp. (PCU\C) (SCCO PE), Peru’s biggest copper producer, gained 1.3 percent to $31.50.

Maple Energy Plc (MPLE) , the oil and natural gas producer with operations in Peru, rose 2.4 percent to $1.30.

Rio Cristal Resources Corp. (RCZ) , a Canadian zinc exploration company, fell 8.3 percent to 11 cents after zinc futures declined in London, said Estefany Castillo, an analyst at Scotiabank Peru.

Cia. Minera Atacocha SA (CMA\B) (ATACOBC1 PE), the Lima-based zinc mining company, dropped 1.2 percent to 81 centimos.
