Chilean Stocks: Besalco, Empresas Hites and Sonda Are Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4:16 p.m. in Santiago.

The Ipsa (IPSA) index gained 0.1 percent to 4,620.51. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index advanced 0.1 percent to 2,640.21.

Besalco SA (BESALCO CC), Chile’s second-largest engineering and construction company, rose 1.6 percent to 953.65 pesos. Investment in construction projects is accelerating, Finance Minister Felipe Larrain told an economic forum in Santiago today.

Empresas Hites SA (HITES) gained 2.3 percent to 376.31 pesos, the most in three weeks. The department-store operator had profit of 12.3 billion pesos ($25 million) in 2011 compared with 11.2 billion pesos the year before, according to a statement posted on the website of the securities regulator.

Sonda SA (SONDA) gained 0.5 percent to 1,433.7 pesos in triple the average volume of the last three months. Chile’s largest information-technology company said it will pay 20.3 billion pesos in dividends, according to a statement on the website of Chile’s securities regulator. The company was given the equivalent of buy rating yesterday by Itau BBA Securities equity analyst Susana Salaru.
