France Telecom Has No Plan to Sell Polish Assets, Rejects Report

France Telecom SA (FTE) has completed its European portfolio review and has no plan to dispose of assets in Poland, spokesman Tom Wright said.

Wright was reponding to a Rp.pl report today that France’s largest phone company has started sounding out the market for a buyer for its fixed-line phone business. France Telecom owns about half of Telekomunikacja Polska SA (TPS), which operates the Orange mobile-phone brand in Poland and owns a fixed-line network.

Paris-based France Telecom has agreed to sell units in Austria and Switzerland the recent months. The only remaining asset in the European portfolio review is the company’s stake in Sonaecom SGPS SA in Portugal, Wright said today.

Telekomunikacja Polska rose 0.3 percent to 16.98 zloty at 10:04 a.m. in Warsaw.
