Russia Equity Movers: United Co. Rusal, Sberbank, VTB Group
The 30-stock Micex Index climbed for a second day, adding 1.2 percent to 1,631.15 at the close in Moscow. The dollar-denominated RTS Index was 1.3 percent stronger at 1,752.02.
The following are among the most active equities in the Russian market today. Stock symbols are in parentheses
United Co. Rusal (RUALR) (RUALR RX) dropped 2.5 percent to 225.13 rubles, its weakest close since Jan. 24. Billionaire Chairman Victor Vekselberg’s March 12 resignation stoked concern a shareholder dispute will hurt the world’s biggest aluminum producer.
OAO Sberbank (SBER) (SBER RX) gained 2.7 percent to 103.26 rubles, its best rally since Feb. 24. Shares of Russia’s biggest lender advanced as the Federal Reserve spurred confidence in the U.S. banking system and raised its economic assessment. VTB Group (VTBR) (VTBR RX), the country’s second-biggest bank, added 1.9 percent to 7.328 kopeks, its strongest level in more than a week.
