Macklem Concerned With Canada’s Household Debt, Correio Says

Canada’s policy makers are concerned with rising domestic household debt due to low interest rates, Central Bank Senior Deputy Governor Tiff Macklem told Correio Braziliense.

“We’re alerting people not to take on debt they can’t pay,” Macklem said in an interview with the newspaper today.

Like Brazil, Canada also has an appreciated currency and continues to attract foreign capital, Macklem said.
