The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.4 percent to 7,903.08, its fourth day of declines and the longest losing streak since Nov. 23.
EVA Airways Corp. (2618) (2618 TT) gained 3.2 percent to NT$19.65, the most since Feb. 1, snapping three days of losses. Taiwan’s second-largest carrier will increase its fuel surcharges from March 15, the company said in a statement on its website.
Largan Precision Co. (3008) (3008 TT) retreated 3.2 percent to NT$639, the most since Feb. 16. The lens maker was cut to “reduce” from “neutral” at Fubon Securities Co.
Powertech Technology Inc. (6239) (6239 TT) surged 5.6 percent to NT$56.80, the biggest jump since Feb. 3. Nomura Holdings Inc. reiterated its “buy” rating on the company, saying the recent selloff provides an “opportunity.”
