The Stoxx Europe 600 Index (SXXP) rose 0.6 percent to 260.11. The Stoxx 50 Index (SX5P) (SX5P) gained 0.3 percent to 2,446.01. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index (SX5E), a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, climbed 0.7 percent to 2,460.77.
3Legs Resources Plc (3LEG) (3LEG LN): The Isle of Man-based shale- gas explorer may begin natural-gas production from Poland’s shale formations in two years, according to Chief Executive Officer Peter Clutterbuck. The company has a partnership with ConocoPhillips (COP US) in Poland. The shares were unchanged at 70 pence.
Bayer AG (BAYN) (BAYN GY): The largest German drugmaker is weighing a bid for Pfizer Inc.’s (PFE US) animal-health unit and discussing how to raise funding with banks, said people with knowledge of the plans. Christian Hartel, a Bayer spokesman, declined to comment. A Pfizer spokeswoman said the company hadn’t yet decided on a spinoff or sale. Bayer shares rose 0.6 percent to 53.33 euros.
Societe Generale SA (GLE) : France’s second-biggest bank named Jean-Francois Mazaud head of its private banking and asset management unit, replacing Daniel Truchi. The shares increased 3.4 percent to 23.78 euros.
