Taiwan Stock Movers: Largan, Taiwan Semiconductor, Thailin

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.

The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.8 percent to 7,937.97, its third day of declines and the longest losing streak since Jan. 16.

Largan Precision Co. (3008) (3008 TT) gained 2.2 percent to NT$660, the highest close since Feb. 9. The company said February sales rose 39 percent from a year earlier to NT$1.1 billion, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (2330) (2330 TT) increased 0.8 percent to NT$79.50. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Morris Chang said he may appoint more than one CEO after he relinquishes the post at the world’s largest custom-chip maker.

Thailin Semiconductor Corp. (5466) (5466 TT) dropped 4 percent to NT$13.10, the biggest retreat since Dec. 19. February sales fell 15 percent from a year earlier to NT$94 million, according to a company statement.
