ARGENTINA DAYBOOK: February Auto Output, Central Bank Note Sale

Argentina’s automakers association is scheduled to release February’s output, exports and sales today.

WHAT TO WATCH

* Argentina’s central bank announces details of its weekly auction of fixed- and floating-rate peso debt. The sale will take place tomorrow.

ECONOMY/COMMODITIES:

* Automakers release their report this afternoon.

EQUITIES:

* The Merval (MERVAL) Index rose 0.3 percent to 2,757.30 on March 2, led by Siderar SAIC (ERAR), Argentina’s biggest steelmaker, which surged 9.4 percent to 23.95 pesos, the biggest gain since October 11.

MARKETS:

* The peso rose 0.2 percent to 4.3359 per dollar on March 2. The currency has declined 0.8 percent against the dollar this year.
