Tampa Bay Lightning Overcome New York Rangers 4-3 in Overtime

Ryan Malone scored one minute, 58 seconds into overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 victory over the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers, who had their three-game winning streak ended.

The Rangers, 41-15-7 for 89 points, are one point behind the National Hockey League-leading Vancouver Canucks and tied for second with the Detroit Red Wings.

Artem Anisimov gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first period at Tampa Bay Times Forum. Marian Gaborik added a power- play goal two minutes, 43 seconds into the second period for a 2-0 lead.

Tom Pyatt narrowed the gap to 2-1 in second period, while Teddy Purcell and Steven Stamkos gave the Lightning (30-28-6, 66 points) a 3-2 lead midway through the final period.

Brandon Dubinsky’s goal with 3 ½ minutes left in regulation play tied the game at 3-3.
