Brazilian Stock Movers: B2W, Estacio Participacoes, Suzano Papel

The following companies had unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close of trading. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.

The Bovespa (IBOV) Index rose 1.5 percent to 67,781.60.

B2W Cia. Global do Varejo (BTOW3 BS) dropped 5.6 percent to 9.94 reais, a one-month low. The online retailer’s fourth- quarter loss widened to 28.8 million reais ($16.6 million) and it failed to turn a profit for a fifth straight quarter.

Estacio Participacoes SA (ESTC3) (ESTC3 BS) lost 4.2 percent to 20.67 reais. The provider of post-secondary education services reported 2011 adjusted net income of 70.2 million reais, lagging the average estimate of 95 million reais in a Bloomberg survey of nine analysts.

Suzano Papel & Celulose SA (SUZB5) (SUZB5 BS) advanced 7.8 percent to 8.73 reais, the biggest one-day gain since May 2010. South Africa’s Mondi Ltd. is considering buying 50 percent of a plant owned by Suzano, Brazil’s second-biggest pulp producer, newspaper Valor Economico reported, citing an unidentified person in the industry.
