Italian Development Minister Corrado Passera asked Alcatel-Lucent Chief Executive Officer Ben Verwaayen to “reflect” on the future of its business in Italy.
Passera made the comments in an e-mailed statement after meeting with Verwaayen in Rome today. The Alcatel chief last month announced plans to eliminate 500 jobs in Italy, about 20 percent of its workforce in the country as part of a broader European reorganization.
