Kyushu Electric May Boost Thermal Power Capacity, Nikkei Reports

Kyushu Electric Power Co. (9508) is considering boosting its thermal power generation capacity by as much as 500 megawatts at the Shin-Oita gas-fired plant and by about 1,000 megawatts at the Matsuura coal-fired facility, the Nikkei newspaper reported today, citing President Toshio Manabe.

The Shin-Oita plant currently has a capacity of 2,295 megawatts, while the Matsuura plant’s is 700 megawatts, the Nikkei reported.
