China Asks Baidu to Help Govt Control Information on Internet

Baidu Inc., owner of China’s dominant search engine, should continue helping the government “promote progressive culture and curb harmful information,” Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei said.

The government also asked Baidu to participate in the country’s high-tech research, including cloud-based computing, according to a statement posted on the ministry’s website following a Feb. 17 visit to the company by Miao.
