The SET Index (SET) fell for the first time in five days, dropping 0.5 percent to 1,094.01.
Nation Multimedia Group Pcl (NMG) , a Thai publisher of English- and Thai-language newspapers, jumped 8.6 percent to 0.88 baht, the highest close since Aug. 24. Sermsin Samala bought an additional 2.4 percent stake in the company, raising his holding to 15.2 percent, according to a regulatory filing.
Precious Shipping Pcl (PSL) , Thailand’s biggest shipping company by market value, dropped 2.4 percent to 16.20 baht, the steepest decline since Jan. 16. Profit in 2011 decreased 37 percent to 718.5 million baht ($23 million).
Siam City Cement Pcl (SCCC) , the nation’s second-largest cement maker, climbed 2.9 percent to 286 baht, the highest close since November 2007. Siam City may build cement plants in Cambodia and Myanmar, Vice President Kantanit Sukontasap said by phone today. It may also build a plant to produce wood- replacement products in Indonesia, he said.
