Goldman Names Westerman, Dees Heads of Asia Ex-Japan Banking
Stock Chart for Goldman Sachs Group Inc/The (GS)
Westerman was recently global head of equity capital markets, and Dees was head of the financing group in Asia Pacific, according an internal memo announcing the appointments. Edward Naylor, a Hong Kong-based spokesman for the firm, confirmed the memo’s contents.
With the appointments, David Ryan, Goldman Sachs’s Asia president, will relinquish his role as head of investment banking. Ryan took that post nearly two years ago, and his current position last February.
Dees, who is also chairman of the financing group in Japan, joined Goldman Sachs in 1992, and became a partner in 2004. He became head of the Asian financing group in 2008.
Westerman, who is currently based in London, will start working in Hong Kong on April 1, Naylor said. He joined the firm as a managing director in 2000 and was named a partner two years later, the memo said. He is a member of investment bank division’s operating committee.
