Ethanol Output in U.S. Climbs 0.5%, Energy Department Says

Ethanol production in the U.S. rose 0.5 percent to 939,000 barrels a day, the first advance since Dec. 30, according to an Energy Department report.

Output gained the most since the week ended Dec. 23 and is at the highest level since Jan. 13. Stockpiles swelled 5.8 percent to a record 20.9 million barrels, the department said in a report released today.

Production of conventional gasoline blended with ethanol fell 0.3 percent to 4.84 million barrels a day, the report showed.

Denatured ethanol for February delivery rose 2 cents, or 0.9 percent, to $2.187 a gallon at 10:50 a.m. New York time on the Chicago Board of Trade.
