Saipem Russia Venture Seeks to Build LNG Plant, Vedomosti Says

Saipem SpA (SPM)’s venture with Russian state United Shipbuilding Corp. aims to gain contracts worth as much as $28.3 billion, including one valued at $20 billion to build a liquefied natural gas plant on the Yamal Peninsula, Vedomosti said, citing a letter from United Shipbuilding head Roman Trotsenko to Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin.

It also seeks to build offshore oil rigs, ships, pipelines and platforms, as well as orders from the petrochemicals and nuclear energy sectors, Vedomosti said, citing the letter, which was dated Jan. 19.
