Chilean Stocks: CMPC, Empresa Nacional de Electricidad, Masisa

The following companies are having unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 11:13 a.m. in Santiago.

The Ipsa (IPSA) index fell 0.4 percent to 4,208.97. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index dropped 1.3 percent to 2,405.68.

Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (ENDESA CC) slid 1 percent to 751 pesos, poised for its biggest decline in two weeks. Some investors may be trimming expectations for fourth- quarter earnings, said Marcelo Catalan, an analyst at Banco de Credito & Inversiones’ brokerage in Santiago. Endesa, as Chile’s largest power generator is known, is scheduled to report results tomorrow, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Empresas CMPC SA (CMPC) (CMPC CC), Chile’s second-biggest forestry company, retreated 1.2 percent to 1,900 pesos. Chile’s industrial production increased 0.5 percent in December from a year earlier, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute today, missing the 1.2 percent median estimate of eight economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

Masisa SA (MASISA) (MASISA CC), a wood-products maker, fell 0.9 percent to 49.5 pesos.
