Russia’s Transaero Air Passengers Increase 27% in 2011, CEO Says

OAO Transaero Airlines (TAER), Russia’s second-largest airline, carried about 8.5 million passengers last year, a 27 percent increase from 2010, Chief Executive Officer Olga Pleshakova told state television Rossiya 24.

In total, Russian airlines carried 64 million passengers in 2011, up 13 percent from the previous year, according to the country’s Civil Aviation Agency. The market growth may slow to 9 to 10 percent this year, while Transaero seeks to grow at a higher pace, Pleshakova told Rossiya 24.
