A Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. (293) flight to Hong Kong from Tokyo was delayed yesterday after cracks were found on the exterior coating of the Boeing 747-400 plane’s right wing, the Oriental Daily reported.
The cracks weren’t part of the aircraft’s core structure and wouldn’t have affected safety during takeoff and landing, the Chinese-language newspaper reported, citing an unidentified spokesperson.
The flight, CX549, arrived in Hong Kong almost five hours behind schedule, according to the airline’s website.
