South Korea Stocks: Ahnlab, LG Electronics, Shinhan Financial
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in South Korea trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:29 a.m. in Seoul.
The Kospi Index (KOSPI) gained 0.2 percent to 1,956.90.
Ahnlab Inc. (053800) (053800 KS) jumped 3.9 percent to 130,900 won. The maker of anti-virus software founded by Ahn Cheol Soo said it got an order to provide security programs for U.S.-based Cornerstone Community Bank.
LG Electronics Inc. (066570 KS) gained 1 percent to 77,900 won, extending yesterday’s 4.1 percent advance. The world’s third-largest maker of handsets said sales of its Optimus LTE smartphone since October exceeded 1 million units.
Shinhan Financial Group Co. (055550) (055550 KS) rose 1.6 percent to 44,350 won. The company repaid 3.76 trillion won ($3.35 billion) of convertible preferred shares, according to a regulatory filing yesterday.
