IMF’S Cottarelli Sees Risk of Over-Tightening Fiscal Policy

The International Monetary Fund cautioned against cutting budget deficits too fast as global economic growth slows.

“Fiscal adjustment should continue but should continue at the right pace,” Carlo Cottarelli, who heads the IMF fiscal affairs department, told reporters today in Washington.
