Mott MacDonald Aids Kasikornbank, Siam in $222 Million Thai Wind
Kasikornbank Pcl (KBANK) and Siam Commercial Bank Pcl (SCB) aided in the financing of the largest wind farm in southeast Asia, according to Mott MacDonald Group Ltd., the U.K. company appointed as engineer on the project.
Mott MacDonald worked on the 207-megawatt park in the Korat province in central Thailand on behalf of the Bangkok-based lenders, the Croydon-based company said today in an e-mailed statement. The Thai project that reached financial close will cost $222 million to build, Mott MacDonald said.
Mott MacDonald reviewed the plant’s design, interconnection arrangements and project contracts before the financing deal was struck. Wind Energy Holding Co. is developing the 90-turbine project 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Bangkok, according to the statement.
The plant will sell electricity for 25 years to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Mott MacDonald said. Further details were not immediately available from the company when contacted by phone.
