GDF Suez, Impax, Lloyds Banking, Metro: Europe Equity Preview

The following companies’ shares may have unusual moves in European (SXXP) trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index rose 0.1 percent to 253.48. The Stoxx 50 Index fell less than 0.1 percent to 2,436. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index, a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, retreated 0.3 percent to 2,390.64.

GDF Suez SA (GSZ) and Iberdrola SA (IBE) : NuGeneration Ltd., a venture between the two energy companies that’s planning to build a nuclear power station in Cumbria, England, has applied to the country’s regulator for a license to generate electricity. GDF fell 2.4 percent to 21.03 euros. Iberdrola declined 2.7 percent to 4.57 euros.

Impax Asset Management Ltd. (IPX) : The London-based renewable-energy investor acquired nine operating solar parks in Italy from Norwegian developer Scatec Solar AS. Impax rose 1.1 percent to 44.50 pence.

Lloyds Banking Group Plc (LLOY) : The U.K.’s biggest mortgage lender will cut 700 jobs in the U.K. as part of its plan to control costs and reduce employee numbers by 15,000. Lloyds rose 0.2 percent to 29.59 pence.

Metro AG (MEO) (MEO GY): Germany’s largest retailer signed a 1 billion-euro ($1.3 billion) credit line to refinance an existing facility and fund its business, lenders said in a statement. Metro fell 1 percent to 28.10 euros.
