Alterra Says Catastrophes Cost $50 Million in Fourth Quarter

Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd. (ALTE), the reinsurer formed by the merger of Max Capital Group Ltd. and Harbor Point Ltd., said fourth-quarter catastrophe losses were about $50 million.

The sum includes about $30 million from flooding in Thailand, the Bermuda-based company said today in a statement on Business Wire.
