Lily Safra Donates Gerhard Richter Painting to Israel Museum

Lily Safra, widow of Brazilian banker Edmond Safra, has donated Gerhard Richter’s painting “Abstraktes Bild 849-3 (1997)” to the Israel Museum, the Jerusalem-based institution said today in an e-mailed statement.
The Richter painting was purchased for $20.8 million at a Sotheby’s (BID) auction in November.
