Real Madrid Rallies Past Mallorca to Extend Spanish Soccer Lead

Real Madrid came from behind to defeat Mallorca 2-1 and extend its lead in Spanish soccer’s Primera Division to eight points over Barcelona.

Thomer Hemed gave Mallorca the lead in the first half before Real’s Gonzalo Higuain tied the score in the 72nd minute. Jose Maria Callejon then got the winning goal with six minutes remaining.

Paris Saint-Germain beat Toulouse 3-1 to maintin its three- point lead in france’s Ligue 1 over Montpellier, which defeated Lyon 1-0. It was the first league match for PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was hired Dec. 30 to replace Antoine Kombouare.
